A COLLECTION of medals put together over 70 years is going up for auction this month.

More than 200 medal groups in the collection will go on sale at Charterhouse, in Sherborne, during a sale of coins, medals and stamps on February 29.

“There are over 200 medal groups in the collection which have been amassed by the owner over the past 70 years,” said auctioneer, Richard Bromell.

The owner, who lives near Dorchester, remembers paying just a few shillings for some in the 1950s, with the collection now estimated to sell for around £40,000.
