Conservation In Action – Behind the Scenes Tour at the Fleet Air Arm Museum

5th March at 10:30 am - 4:00 pm

Your chance to see naval aviation history being brought back to life! Exclusive behind the scenes access. Over 40 years of conservation expertise.
Step behind the scenes at the Fleet Air Arm Museum and discover how conservation specialists preserve the legacy of naval aviation for future generations.

Join the Museum’s Principal Conservator of Naval Aircraft, David Morris, on an exclusive ‘Conservation in Action’ tour — a unique opportunity to see firsthand the intricate work involved in restoring and preserving iconic Fleet Air Arm aircraft.

This two-hour experience begins with an in-depth presentation, offering insight into the philosophy, methods, and decision-making processes behind major conservation projects. You’ll then be guided through the museum’s exhibition halls for a closer look at aircraft such as the WWII Corsair KD431, where meticulous paint archaeology has revealed original wartime camouflage beneath layers applied in the 1960s.

The tour finishes with a tour of the exciting rebuild of the only surviving Fairey Barracuda, DP872, in the Arthur Kimberley Viewing Gallery.

Thursday 5th March, tours at 10.30am and 2pm
Tickets are £30 per person.
Tours strictly pre booked only and limited to 10 people maximum per tour. Museum Access is included on the day of your visit.
