Young golfers putt-ing in the work for charity

FOUR exceptional junior golfers between the ages of nine and 14, known as the Fantastic Fore, raised a remarkable £2,167.34 for Macmillan Cancer Support as they took part in the charity’s ‘longest day golf challenge’.

The challenge asked people to take on 36, 72 or 100 holes in one day to raise money for the charity.

The fundraising team of Zachary Ashford (nine), Amelia Slavin (11), Harmony Gaskin (12), and Lily-Paige Littlewood (14) set themselves the target of undertaking 54 holes at Sturminster Marshall Golf Club – but they smashed this target and ended the day by finishing 63 holes.

Zachary’s mum Sara Ashford said: “With the support of their golf coaches and professionals, Charlie Pillinger and England Golf Participation and Development Coach 2023 Mike Dodds support they did it!

“The team helped raise money for the event though bake sales, asking friends and family to donate and finished off the day with a raffle.”
