Workshop to highlight mental health of farmers and landowners

MENTAL health issues among the farming and landowner community will be the subject of a workshop this month.

On May 12, the Rural Support and Wellbeing project will host the Mental Health Awareness event at the Langton Arms, in Tarrant Monkton, between noon and 4pm.

Run by New Leaf Life Design, the workshop aims to provide an overview of mental health, covering; What mental health is and how to challenge stigma; A basic knowledge of some common mental health issues; An introduction to looking after your own mental health and maintaining wellbeing; Confidence to support someone in distress or who may be experiencing a mental health issues.

Becky Wright, who established and runs New Leaf Life Design, is an award-winning mental health trainer, a retired psychotherapist, and a young farmer.

The workshop is available to any farmer or land manager in Devon, Somerset, Dorset, Cornwall, or the Isles of Scilly currently in receipt of BPS payments.
