Work begins on £250,000 restoration project at Mere church

WORK is underway on a major project to restore a landmark church tower.

Last August, the Friends of St Michael’s Church group in Mere received a National Lottery Heritage Fund grant of £247,843 for The Tower Stories heritage project.

Work on the scheme at the Grade I-listed church is now underway, and will see the church pinnacles and building restored, alongside the creation of a community project detailing the history of the church.
