Woman killed in A303 crash near Stonehenge, police say

A WOMAN was tragically killed in a crash on the A303 this morning (Tuesday).

Wiltshire Police said emergency services were called to the incident, on the eastbound carriageway of the road near Stonehenge, at around 10am.

The crash involved a car and an HGV, a spokesperson said.

“The female driver of the car, a woman in her 60s from Bath, sadly died at the scene,” they added.

“Her next of kin has been informed and are being supported by a specialist trained officer. Our thoughts are with them at this difficult time.

“The driver of the HGV was uninjured.”

A closure was put in place at Countess roundabout and Longbarrow roundabout and remains in place.

“Enquiries are currently ongoing,” the spokesperson added.

Anyone who witnessed the crash, or may have dash cam footage, should call 101 or email SCIT@wiltshire.police.uk.

Diversions are in place for drivers in the area, with the A303 set to remain closed until this evening, National Highways said.
