A WOMAN in her 80s is in a ‘serious condition’ after a crash in Shaftesbury.

The incident happened at around 12.45pm on Thursday (July 6) on the A30 Sherborne Causeway, at the junction with Lox Lane.

The crash involved a white Ford KA and a silver Suzuki Swift.

The driver of the Suzuki – a woman aged in her 80s from the Shaftesbury area – was taken to hospital for treatment and remains in a serious condition.

Her family has been informed, Dorset Police said.

The occupants of the Ford were taken to hospital for treatment to minor injuries.

Road closures were put in place to allow emergency services to safely deal with the incident.

PC Gavin Newbury, of the Roads Policing Team, said: “Specialist officers are carrying out a detailed investigation into the circumstances of this collision.

“I am appealing to any witnesses who may have seen either vehicle prior to the incident, or the collision itself, and have not already spoken to us to please come forward.

“I would also urge any motorists who were travelling in the area at the time and have dashcam fitted to their vehicle to please check their footage for anything relevant.

“Finally, I would like to thank members of the public for their patience and understanding as the road closures were in place. These are absolutely necessary to allow the emergency services to respond and for us to carry out an examination of the collision scene.”
