A WOMAN in her 70s suffered chest injuries after a crash on the A35 near Dorchester yesterday afternoon (March 12).
The incident, involving three vehicles, happened at around 3.55pm on the carriageway of the A35 Puddletown bypass, near the layby for The Gingerbread Café.
It involved a blue BMW 420, a blue Vauxhall Agila and a grey Volkswagen Golf.
“It is reported that a collision occurred between the BMW and the Vauxhall travelling westbound, which subsequently led to a further collision with the Volkswagen which was travelling eastbound,” a Dorset Police spokesperson said.
“Officers attended with the ambulance service and a woman aged in her 70s was taken to hospital for treatment to serious chest injuries, which are not believed to be life-changing or life-threatening.”
PC Kier Dagnall, of the Roads Policing Team, added: “We are carrying out enquiries into this collision to establish the full circumstances and I would urge any witnesses who have not already spoken to police to please make contact with us.
“I would also like to hear from anyone who was driving in the area and may have seen the vehicle before the incident or captured relevant dashcam footage.
“Road closures were put in place to allow the emergency services to respond to this incident and I would like to thank members of the public for their patience and understanding during this period.”
