A WOMAN was arrested after being picked up on the A31 near Bere Regis.

Police were called after it was reported a Hyundai Tucson had come to a halt on route at some time between 7.30pm and 8pm on Saturday night (January 20).

A man stopped to help and gave the female driver a lift to the nearby The World’s End pub, at Almer, it is understood.

Following enquiries, officers arrested a 28-year-old woman from Ferndown on suspicion of a driving offence. She was subsequently released on police bail.

PC Ramsay Inkster, of Dorset Police, said: “We are continuing to make enquiries to establish the full circumstances of this incident and I am keen to speak to any witnesses or anyone with information that might assist our investigation.

“I am particularly keen to speak to the man who gave the woman a lift to The World’s End pub so we can get his account of what happened.

“I would like to stress that we are treating this individual purely as a witness who can help our enquiries.”
