Woman arrested after alleged robbery at Gillingham Asda

A WOMAN has been arrested following an alleged robbery at a Gillingham supermarket.

Police received reports that at around 3.15pm on Monday, May 6, a woman stole a number of bottles of alcohol from Asda, in Station Road.

“When she was challenged by staff inside the store, she allegedly threw one of the bottles toward a staff member, but it did not make contact,” a Dorset Police spokesperson said.

“She also reportedly threatened staff outside the store before making off from the scene.”

Following enquiries by officers and a public appeal, a 34-year-old local woman was arrested on suspicion of robbery and theft.

She has been released on police bail as enquiries continue.

“We would like to thank everyone who shared our appeal,” the spokesperson added.
