A YELLOW weather warning has been issued for the Blackmore Vale and beyond.

The Met Office is predicting a ‘brief spell’ of ‘heavy rain and strong, gusty winds’ across much of Somerset, Dorset and Wiltshire, and has issued the warning for between 10am and 7pm on Thursday (November 24).

It warns people to expect possible disruption to travel, spray and flooding on roads and potential flooding of some homes and businesses.

The unsettled weather will begin this evening, according to a forecaster.

“Frequent blustery showers at first, especially on western coasts, but becoming mostly dry and clear by dawn,” they said.

However, coastal areas could then expect the strongest winds, with elsewhere in the region seeing more rain into the afternoon.

“Bright and breezy to start before squally rain moves eastward during the day,” they added.

“Rain clearing to sunshine and scattered showers. Windy with coastal gales, easing later in the afternoon.”

Temperatures will reach around 13C, they said.

Looking ahead to the weekend, the forecaster said the Vale would be ‘mostly fine and dry with light winds and feeling pleasant in the sunshine’.

However, further heavy rain and strong winds are expected on Saturday.
