POLICE seized a van in Blandford Forum following concerns it has been used to dump waste illegally.
The Vauxhall Vivaro Van, registration LP11 LCK, and the owner’s personal belongings and waste were seized by officers at 4.05pm on October 25 from the Higher Shaftesbury Road on behalf of Dorset Council’s waste enforcement team.
The van is now under investigation as it is suspected to have been used in fly tipping and other environmental crimes across Dorset.
“It has been seized, pending investigation, under section 5 of the Control of Pollution (Amendment) Act 1989 (transporting controlled waste without being registered) and sections 33/34/34B of the Environmental Protection Act 1990 (breach of duty of care and illegal depositing of waste),” a spokesperson for Dorset Council Waste Services said.
