Trailway work is receiving all the right signals

North Dorset Railway (NDR) are getting all the right signals from Sturminster Newton Town Council on its environmental improvement scheme at the entrance of the North Dorset Trailway in Sturminster Newton.

Overseen by Councillor Martin Jones, plans for the project were drawn up last year with the help of the Trailway Ranger and the community.

Sponsorship for the initial phases of the project has been provided by local organisations in the town.

Volunteers at North Dorset Railway, based at Shillingstone Station constructed a replica signal. Geoff Baker, the NDR trustee, was on site to assist the council’s grounds team to secure it in place with a giant crane after its arrival by trailer from Shillingstone station.

Work is now underway to prepare interpretation boards with text and illustrations which are planned to be placed on site early next year.
