Theo’s on course for success after picking up championship

Fifteen-year-old Theo Anderson Gannon, who lives in Sherborne and plays his golf off an impressive handicap of three, ended a very successful 2021 by winning the Junior Championship at Yeovil Golf Club. Another impressive achievement in giving him both the Club’s Junior Open and Junior Championships, as well as posting a win on the Junior Clutch Tour in Surrey and equalling the course record of five under at Paultons Golf Centre in Hampshire.

Theo’s gross 73 around the 18-hole Old Course was also the lowest nett score on the day and saw him finish two shots ahead of five handicap Chloe Northover, another of the club’s rising stars.

When asked about his latest golfing achievement Theo said “I had the dream of being a footballer until I was 12 and then I started to live for golf. I often get called a young Rory McIlroy lookalike… I’ve got the hair and now I want the golf to go with it”. Yeovil members will certainly support and applaud him as he seeks to make his dream a reality.
