The Friends of Wincanton Community Hospital are holding a fete

The Friends of Wincanton Community Hospital are holding a fete in the grounds of the Dancing Lane facility on Saturday September 4.

Along with activities and stalls for all ages, with the Wincanton Silver Band providing the entertainment there will also be free parking for fete-goers.
Although fundraising was suspended during the pandemic, the Friends’ committee received a legacy donation from the Hannam family of Wincanton, which allowed them to provide five syringe drivers for pain management.

Part of the legacy donation was also used to fund a doppler, which measures blood flow and is used to assess ulcers and deep vein thrombosis. The committee has recently funded a new diabetic retinopathy camera to add to the X-ray and scanner facility given to the hospital recently.

With the help of Morrisons Wincanton they also provided Christmas gifts for staff and patients in hospital during the festive period, as well as Easter eggs. The Friends have also received help from the Yeovil Freewheelers, volunteer motorcyclists providing transport for blood samples and other items. They now have a bike located at the hospital with a substantial part of the funding for the garaging provided by the Co-op community initiative.
