Teens arrested after metal thefts in Weymouth and Dorchester

TWO teenagers were among a trio arrested on suspicion of theft after metal went missing from properties in Dorchester and Weymouth.

On Thursday (October 19), Dorset Police received three reports of metal being stolen from addresses in the Preston area of Weymouth and London Road and Coburg Road, in Dorchester.

It was reported that all incidents involved the same vehicle.

The vehicle was subsequently stopped on the A35 in Dorchester and a 16-year-old boy, as well as two men aged 19 and 29 – all from Gravesend in Kent – were arrested on suspicion of theft.

Police Sergeant Matthew Love, of West Dorset police, said: “An investigation is underway and I am keen to speak to anyone with information that may assist my enquiries.

“If you saw a white van acting suspiciously in any of the areas mentioned on Thursday, please contact Dorset Police.

“Finally, I would encourage anyone who suspects that metal may have been taken from their property recently to please get in touch.”
