Taxidermy and top, bowler and equestrian hats

THE second part of the hugely popular Single Owner Sporting Collection of 2022 is coming to auction at Duke’s next month.
The collection includes more than 100 lots of top, bowler and equestrian hats made by well-known vintage hatters such as Christys’ of London, Hebert Johnson of London, Dunn & Co of London and Scott & Co of London.
They date from the Victorian to Edwardian period but most are in excellent condition due to careful storage in original boxes.
The Richard Pratley collection of taxidermy is over 150 lots mostly by the renowned taxidermists Hutchings of Aberystwyth 1860-1942.
Works include a golden eagle, two swans and even a Lemur. The collection also features a ram’s head and otter masks by the renowned P. Spicer & Sons, Leamington Spa.
The Christopher Bent Cockfighting collection contains a large number of 19th century goblet wine glasses depicting exquisitely etched fighting scenes.

Other collectable items include two quality sets of Victorian silver cock fighting spurs and a rare George II Irish cockfighting chair.
All three collections will feature in Duke’s Sporting and Natural History Auction on 15 February at 10.30am.
