A POLICE helicopter was called in to help track down a suspect after a disturbance outside a Sherborne pub.

West Dorset Response officers, supported by teams from Bridport and Dorchester, were called to reports of an incident outside The Britannia Inn in Sherborne.

A suspect fled the scene, sparking a foot chase by officers through the town.

Police said the individual tried to avoid capture by hiding in nearby undergrowth.

However, with support from the National Police Air Service helicopter, officers were able to locate the suspect and make an arrest.

The person was arrested on suspicion of robbery and malicious communications.

Dorset Police said the individual is also suspected of being linked to offences in the Avon and Somerset Police area.

They remain in police custody while enquiries continue.

Officers have appealed for witnesses or anyone with information to come forward.
