Submissions open now for Sherborne Open Art Exhibition

SUBMISSIONS are now being accepted for the annual Sherborne Open Art Exhibition.

The display, organised by Sherborne Art Club in partnership with SherborneArts, returns on July 19

The independently-judged exhibition aims to showcase the region’s “enormous wealth and variety of artistic talent”, with entry open to amateur and professional artists.

“With 400 pictures and 3D artworks and unframed folio ‘browsers’ also for sale, it is not to be missed,” said a spokesperson.

Away from the exhibition itself, additional fringe activities will also be taking place during the week, including art demonstrations and family events, as well as a weekend café with teas/coffees and home-made cakes.

The exhibition will be at the Digby Hall, in Hound Street, Sherborne, from July 19 to 27, open between 10am and 5pm each day (except July 27, when it closes at 1pm). Admission is free.

“Our exciting exhibition is made possible by our generous sponsors whose donations enable us to offer a range of prizes, including for the first time this year, one for young artists under 25,” the spokesperson added.

“In 2024 we had more than 2,400 visitors and we look forward to welcoming as many, or even more, this year.

“Please come along and support the 250 or so talented artists taking part, and maybe find an original work to take home too.”

Online submission is now open via the SherborneArts website at sherbornearts.org/sherborne-open-art-exhibition. And for more on the event, follow them on social media at facebook.com/SherborneArts and instagram.com/sherborneartclub.
