A DRIVER was rescued from a vehicle stuck in flood water in the Marston Magna area as Storm Ciarán batters Somerset, Wiltshire and Dorset.

Fire crews from Wincanton and Yeovil were called to reports of three vehicles stuck in rising flood water at around 6.19am this morning (October 2).

“Upon arrival crews confirmed one person was stuck inside a vehicle in minimal flood water,” a Devon & Somerset Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said.

“The crews donned on their flood suits and assisted the driver to safety.”

Meanwhile, high winds and heavy rainfall is battering the south west, with many roads flooded.

A crash on the A303 eastbound near the Wincanton junction at around 6am has seen drivers facing delays, while rainwater has blocked half the road off the Wincanton Business Park roundabout, near McDonald’s.

A3030 from Bere Lane (Bishops Caundle) to New Lane (Caundle Marsh), both ways
Cart Road, Lyme Regis
Corfe Road from Wareham Quay to Nutcrack Lane (Stoborough), both ways
Sandbanks Vehicle Ferry is not operating
Zolar Lane impassable both ways at Crate Hill
