Spitfire fans grounded as Compton Abbas event postponed

SPITFIRE fans will be grounded this weekend after an event at Compton Abbas Airfield was postponed.

The airfield was due to host a Spitfire Weekend from today (April 26) until Sunday, April 28.

However, organisers said it had been postponed “due to this weekend’s weather forecast”.

“While the Warbirds won’t be flying, the Smokehouse will remain open for you to try our new offering,” a spokesperson said.

“Those who have purchased parking tickets for the event will be refunded.”

The next Spitfire Weekend is set to run from May 2 to 5.
