Somerton & Frome by-election: What you need to know as voters head for polls

TOMORROW (Thursday, July 20), voters in Somerton and Frome will head to the polls to pick a new MP.

The by-election comes after the resignation of former Conservative MP David Warburton amid a sex and drugs scandal.

But voters should remember, before they head to the voting booth, that they will need to take along photo ID.

What voter ID do I need for the Somerton & Frome by-election?

Acceptable forms of ID for the by-election include a passport, driving licence, or a blue badge.

What time do polls open in the Somerton & Frome by-election?

Polls open across the constituency at 7am and will stay open until 10pm.

Polling cards have been sent to people eligible to vote, which include the location of the polling station.

When will we know the result of the Somerton & Frome by-election?

After polls close at 10pm, ballots will be collected and taken to the Royal Bath & West Showground, near Shepton Mallet, for counting.

The votes will be counted overnight, with a result not expected until well into the early hours.
