Simon Hoare ‘claimed four times for £80 driving charges’: Report

NORTH Dorset MP Simon Hoare claimed four times for £80 motoring fines, according to a new report.

Conservative Mr Hoare, who is chair of the Commons Northern Ireland Committee, was one of four MPs named in an investigation by The Independent newspaper as claiming fines.

The others were Government minister Amanda Sollowday, fellow Conservative Bim Afolami and SNP MP Dave Doogan.

The Independent Parliamentary Standards Authority (IPSA), which oversees MPs’ expenses, said penalty notices will not be paid.

The Independent said both Ms Solloway and Mr Afolami’s offices said the claims were entered in error, with both confirming they had repaid the money after the Independent approached them.

Your New Blackmore Vale has approached Mr Hoare’s office for comment.

The news came after Home Secretary Suella Braverman was criticised after claims she asked civil servants to secure a one-to-one driving safety course after she was fined for speeding.
