Sherborne MP visits hospital of his birth after campaigning to re-open MIU

SHERBORNE MP Chris Loder returned to the hospital where he was born for a tour of facilities.

The Conservative MP for West Dorset visited the Yeatman Hospital on Friday, October 13, where he was given a tour by Dawn Dawson, chief nursing officer at Dorset Healthcare, and matron, Ali Low.

“It’s been great to spend the afternoon at the Yeatman Hospital, which continues to provide a vital healthcare service for local residents,” he said.

“The integration of the community nursing, mental health, and social work teams means that services are comprehensive and well-coordinated.

“The staff at the Yeatman also provide excellent range of outpatient clinics, with orthopaedics, urology, ophthalmology, and physiology.”

Mr Loder, who was born at the Yeatman Hospital, successfully campaigned to reopen the Minor Injuries Unit (MIU) in March last year after it was closed for nearly two years.

“It’s been a pleasure to meet with so many dedicated staff who work at the Yeatman, many of whom have spoken with me today to share their perspective,” he added.

“I’ll always support our local NHS staff and hospitals, which provide such a high degree of healthcare to patients.”
