Sherborne business “ruined in an afternoon” after being hit by floods

THE owner of a Sherborne business says two decades of work was “ruined in an afternoon” after floods hit the premises.

LS Flooring is one of a number of firms at Old Yarn Mills hit by the rising waters amid heavy rainfall over the weekend.

Lee Steele said he had discovered the flooding had seen stock wiped out during storms on Saturday and into Sunday (October 28 and 29).

“What can I say? A business started over 20 years ago ruined in an afternoon,” the company posted on social media.

“The floods which hit the Old Yarn Mills yesterday have destroyed my business – thousands of pounds stock and tools gone.”

As well as the Old Yarn Mills premises, a showroom in Sherborne had also been affected, the company said.

“Our showroom at the top of town also hit with floods,” a statement added. “A massive thanks to all that showed up to help.”

The Parachute Tap Room & Bar, also on the Old Yarn Mills estate, was also hit by floods.

A social media post by the company said it would not be open until Wednesday (November 1), “due to the mad weather and extreme flooding in the bar”.
