THE 477 Barber Club in Sherborne has proved it is a cut above by winning Best Barbers in Dorset in England’s Business Awards.

Business owner Tom Saunders, who was born and educated in the town, opened the shop in 2019 after the shop he had worked in closed and moved to Yeovil.

He said: “I found a shop in Swan Yard, which was fantastic, but needed a lot of work to get it up and running.

“It’s been an uphill struggle with Covid, lockdowns and the cost-of-living crisis with energy bills, but I’ve learnt over the years to role with the punches and had to adapt and overcome situations.”

Tom says he has built his business on producing high-quality, classic yet modern haircuts, and a high standard of customer service, and he welcomes men, women and child customers.

He added: “The most important part of the business is building the right team.

“Barbering is very much a people’s business – I have found over the years barbering is certainly not just about haircuts.

“The shop still has a long way to go. We are still very much a new business and can’t thank everyone enough for the support and kind words since we have opened.

“I couldn’t believe we had won Best Barbers in Dorset. It’s a true reflection of my team and the hard work they have put in.”
