Serious injuries for woman in her 80s following Dorchester hit-and-run

A WOMAN in her 80s has sustained serious injuries after she was hit by a car that failed to stop in Dorchester.

The crash happened at the Bridport Road near the junction with Williams Avenue at around 6pm on Monday (November 11) and involved a car, described as possibly a dark blue hatchback.

Police say the driver failed to stop at the scene and made off in the direction of Poundbury.

The pedestrian’s injuries are not described as life threatening.

Police Sergeant Richard Stroud, of the roads policing team, said: “An investigation is underway to identify the driver of the vehicle involved in this collision.

“I am appealing to anyone who saw what happened, or may have captured anything of relevance on dashcam or CCTV footage, to please get in touch.

“I would like to directly appeal to the driver of the vehicle to do the right thing and come forward so we can take your account and establish the full circumstances.”
