Second person confirmed killed in A303 crash in Somerset

TWO people have been confirmed to have died after a crash on the A303 in Somerset on Monday afternoon.

The incident, at Camel Hill, happened at around 2.40pm and involved a car and a van, Avon and Somerset Police said.

It has since been confirmed a 69-year-old man, who was driving the car, a Fiat 500, died at the scene.

A 69-year-old woman, who was a passenger in the same vehicle, was taken to hospital with serious injuries, but has since died.

“Our thoughts are with their loved ones at this difficult time and a specially trained liaison officer will be supporting them,” said a police spokesperson.

“The driver of the Mercedes Citan van, a 19-year-old woman, remains in hospital being treated for injuries.”

Enquiries into the collision are continuing and anyone with information or relevant dash cam footage, who hasn’t yet spoken with the police, should call 101 and give the call handler the reference number 5223112899.
