Recruitment drive at Stourhead

National Trust property Stourhead is looking for new volunteers and is holding two recruitment days later this month.

The events at Stourton Memorial Hall on the estate near Mere will showcase the diverse range of opportunities available.
Chantelle Margetts, senior volunteering and community officer at Stourhead, said: “There are a huge range of volunteer roles at Stourhead that are integral to looking after this wonderful place. It’s a chance to meet new people and become part of a welcoming and passionate team, whether you’re out in the fresh air, submerged in history or a friendly face to welcome visitors.
“At Stourhead, our volunteers bring so much value and importance to what we do. From inspiring everyone who walks through our doors, to the significant conservation work. Together, we continue to look after and uphold the legacy of Stourhead for future generations.”
“As a volunteer at Stourhead you would be part of a growing and evolving team. Our flexible volunteering offers across a variety of roles makes sure volunteering fits seamlessly into everyday life, with the opportunity to be involved with fantastic teams, build on existing knowledge and learn new skills.”
The volunteer recruitment days are on Wednesday 25 January and Saturday 28 January between 10am and 3.30pm, when visitors will be able to speak to speak current volunteers and managers and learn what roles are available.
Volunteer gardener Carly Williams said: “It feels wonderful to know I am part of a fabulous team who are all dedicated to looking after a place with such a rich garden history, while having some fun and laughter along the way – including lots of tea and cake.
“It feels great to be able to explain to visitors about the work we do and answer their questions about the garden. During the week I work full time as a customer services manager, so being able to volunteer on a weekend is ideal.”
