Racial abuse reported on evening bus

A LATE-NIGHT bus journey in Wimborne was disrupted by a racially aggravated incident, prompting police to appeal for witnesses.

The incident happened at around 10.30pm on Tuesday, March 24, on the number 13 Morebus shortly after it left Wimborne Square.

A man is reported to have directed racial abuse towards another passenger during the journey.

Officers are now working to establish exactly what happened and are urging anyone who was on board at the time to come forward.

PC Kayleigh Barguss, of Dorset Police, said: “We take all reports of hate crime very seriously and have been exploring all lines of enquiry in relation to this incident.

“I am keen to speak to any passengers who were travelling on the bus and witnessed the incident or anyone with information that might assist our enquiries.”

Hate crime incidents remain a priority for police, with officers stressing that reports of abuse or discrimination are always taken seriously and investigated thoroughly.
