Popular Clarks Village bakery applies for awning to cover diners

A BAKERY at the popular Clarks Village shopping complex could soon be sporting an awning to keep diners dry.

A planning application has been submitted for Unit 53 of the development – currently occupied by Cornish Bakery – for a covering measuring around 6.2m by 2.5m.

The ‘heavy duty commercial’ awning would be managed electronically by remote control, while an ‘integrated vibration sensor’ will automatically retract the cover in instances of high wind, heavy rain, or significant movement in the front rail, the plan said.

“The proposed awning has been designed to meet the strict criteria set by the shopping centre and has been reviewed and approved by the landlord,” it added.
