Police hunt third suspect after assault and robbery

TWO men have been arrested following a daytime robbery in Blandford Forum that also saw police vehicles targeted during searches.

Officers were called at around 2.30pm on Monday, April 13, after a man in his 30s was reportedly approached by three men in Church Lane.

One of the suspects was known to the victim.

The man was assaulted during the incident and later discovered his phone and wallet had been stolen.

Police quickly launched an investigation, carrying out searches in nearby areas including Windmill Road.

During those enquiries, two police vehicles had their windows smashed.

Two suspects – a 52-year-old man and an 18-year-old – have since been arrested on suspicion of robbery.

The younger man was also arrested on suspicion of possessing Class B drugs with intent to supply.

Both have been released on police bail while enquiries continue.

Sgt Jane Moore, of the Blandford Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: “We have been carrying out a number of enquiries into this matter, which has led to the arrests of two suspects.

“Our enquiries in relation to a third suspect remain ongoing and there will be continue to be high visibility patrols in the area. Officers can be approached by members of the public with any information or concerns.”

Police have confirmed that efforts to trace the third suspect are ongoing, with increased patrols expected to remain in place to reassure the community.
