Person dies after being hit by train in Dorchester

A PERSON has died after being hit by a train in Dorchester.

Emergency services attended Dorchester South railway station around 4.30pm yesterday (October 8) after it was reported there had been a casualty on the tracks.

British Transport Police said a person was pronounced dead at the scene and the incident is not being treated as suspicious.

A spokesperson said: “Officers were called to the line near Dorchester South railway station at around 4.30pm yesterday (8 October) following reports of a casualty on the tracks.

“Paramedics also attended, however sadly a person was pronounced dead at the scene.

“The incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.”
