Pair charged over hammer raid at Spar in West Dorset

A MAN and a woman have been charged with aggravated burglary after a raid at a shop in Mosterton which left two people injured.

The pair, a 34-year-old man from Poole and a 46-year-old woman from Bridgwater, were arrested in connection with an incident at Spar, in Orchard Way, at around 4.12am on Saturday (April 27).

Police said offenders forced their way into the store in possession of a hammer before stealing multiple items.

“The victims – a man and a woman – both sustained injuries during the incident that are not believed to be serious,” a spokesperson said.

“A full investigation into the incident was carried out by detectives from Dorset County CID and a cordon was put in place as enquiries were carried out.

“Following enquiries, a 34-year-old man from Poole was arrested and charged with conspiracy to commit non-dwelling burglary, actual bodily harm and driving not in accordance with a licence.

“A 46-year-old woman from Bridgwater was arrested and charged with conspiracy to commit non-dwelling burglary and allowing her vehicle to be driven without insurance.”

Both are due to appear at Taunton Magistrates’ Court today (April 29).
