Older people in the Shaftesbury and Gillingham areas keen to learn are celebrating the relaunch of their U3A groups.
There’s a new start, a new venue and a new day for Shaftesbury & Gillingham U3A (sgu3a), as they restart their monthly meetings on Wednesday, September 1 at Motcombe Memorial Hall. The club has been running since 1999, part of a national movement which supports people in their third age.
The club has about 400 members aged 50 upwards. A meeting on the first Wednesday of the month offers a guest speaker, and there are various sub groups, including gardening, canasta, Scrabble, international history, art appreciation, digital photography, literature, family history, French conversation and German.
Membership is for all who are retired, semi-retired or getting closer to retirement and it is just £10 per year to join. See u3asites.org.uk/sgu3a/home.

I am really interested in joining the group studying Ancestry. Is it a bad time to join in the middle of term?
