Over Easter, Gillingham Museum is enhancing its usual display of local exhibits with a variety of additional displays.
Newly added to the collection is the Saxon cross fragment that was previously in St Mary’s church and is now on long-term loan to the museum (pictured left). There is now a 1950s-themed room, which has been put together to mark the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee. And there is the opportunity to see display boards on the Royal Forest Project, which have been prepared by the Dorset Wildlife Trust.
The Museum is delighted to continue its co-operation with Gillingham Library through its display on Women in Gillingham History. Come and look at the Freame Diaries Project, which is producing a digitised version of 50 years of the diaries of the Gillingham lady Ethel Freame, and at the displays of Gillingham’s older buildings.
Spring Collections runs from April 11–23 during normal museum opening hours (details on the museum website at www.gillinghammuseum.co.uk).
