Motor dealer branch director completes Weymouth Ironman for good causes

THE director of a Wiltshire care dealership traded one set of wheels for another to complete a gruelling ironman challenge.

George Chalke, Mere branch director of FJ Chalke & Vale Motors, took part in the Weymouth Ironman event on Sunday (September 17).

Competitors in the ironman took on a 1.9km open water swim, before hitting the road for a 90km bike ride, followed by a half marathon run to finish.

Raising money for the Salisbury Hospital Stars Appeal and the Brave and Determined Charity, George completed the ironman in a time of just over five hours, 19 minutes.

“Huge congratulations to our Mere branch director George Chalke on finishing the 2023 Weymouth Ironman,” a company spokesperson said.

“Well done George, from the whole FJ Chalke and Vale Motors team.”

The Stars Appeal provides much-needed support for staff, patients and their families at Salisbury Hospital, while the Brave and Determined Charity funds vital early-intervention counselling.
