Motcombe Santa Run: Get your costumes ready for December fun run

THE Motcombe Santa Run, which sees hundreds of Santas take on a 3km fun run, is gearing up for a return this festive season – and wheelchair racers are being encouraged to take part.

The event sees intrepid Santas run, walk, or roll through the village, will this year take place on Sunday, December 3, getting underway at 10am, starting and finishing at Motcombe Memorial Hall.

Organised by parents from the local primary school, it attracts entrants and supporters from nearby and further afield.

People of all abilities are encouraged to take part, from enthusiastic families to seasoned pros.

Last year’s winner, Huw Davies, completed the course in 10 minutes.

And now independent wheelchair participants, wheelchair users who need to be assisted or pushed, and participants needing a guide or support runner, are all being welcomed.

Both the course and Motcombe Memorial Hall are wheelchair accessible.

Meanwhile, before the race, CrossFit Shaftesbury will be hosting a fun warm-up for all participants.

They can adapt their CrossFit and HYROX workouts to suit all athletes and are looking forward to welcoming newcomers.

All money raised from the event will go to Motcombe Primary School to help fund new projects, such as play equipment, a forest school and the spiritual garden.
