THE gardening area of St Gregory’s School in Marnhull has been renovated thanks to the hard work of pupils and volunteers.
The after-school gardening club started at the club this half term thanks to the support of volunteers from the Marnhull Organic Gardening Club.
Pupils did their bit by weeding and preparing the growing beds in the forest school area.
“The children loved the weeding, especially who could pull up the largest weed, as well as finding lots of mini beasts, in particular worms,” a spokesperson for the school said.

“The Marnhull village organic gardening club provided some fantastic new compost from the churchyard and helped us on Saturday morning (March 21) to finish preparing the beds ready for planting.
“During the last couple of gardening sessions, the children have been investigating what the soil around the school grounds consists of and harvesting seeds from last year’s dried flower heads ready for planting.

“We started to grow our potatoes inside and will plant these into the new beds in the coming weeks once the frost has gone, ready for a summer harvest.
“We will be planting new vegetables and plants as the term progressing and developing our green fingers and helping the children to learn where our food comes from.”
