Man killed after car crashed into parked lorry on A303

A MAN sadly died after the car he was driving collided with a lorry parked in a layby on the A303.

The incident happened near Ilchester at around 7pm on Saturday evening (May 20).

A black Skoda Citigo collided with a lorry and despite the efforts of members of the public, police, fire and ambulance crews, the driver, the sole occupant of the car, could not be saved.

“His next of kin have been informed and are being supported by a family liaison officer. Our thoughts are with them,” said an Avon and Somerset Police spokesperson.

“We’d like to hear from anyone who saw the collision or has any information or dashcam footage of the car in the moments beforehand.”
