A MAN is due to appear in court following an investigation into a series of alleged vehicle thefts in Dorchester.
Dorset Police have been investigating reports of vehicles being stolen in different parts of the town earlier this year, including incidents in All Saints Road between March 15 and March 31, and Mountain Ash Road between April 9 and April 10.
Following enquiries, a 37-year-old man of no fixed abode has been issued with a postal requisition to appear before Weymouth Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, June 11.
He is due to face charges including taking a motor vehicle without consent, driving without valid insurance, driving while disqualified and fraud by false representation.
Police said that in both incidents, officers were able to recover the vehicles involved and return them to their owners.
The investigation comes amid continued calls for motorists to take extra precautions to protect their vehicles.
Officers are reminding drivers to make sure vehicles are always left securely, keys are kept safe and, where possible, vehicles are parked in well-lit areas to help deter thieves.
The case is scheduled to be heard at Weymouth Magistrates’ Court later this month.
