Man assaulted in road rage incident between Shaftesbury and Gillingham

A MAN was assaulted through a car window in a road rage incident, police say.

The incident unfolded on the B3081 between Shaftesbury and Gillingham at around 3.40pm on Sunday, November 20.

Police are appealing for witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage of the incident to come forward.

The victim, a man in his 20s, was driving a red Citroen Picasso from Shaftesbury to Gillingham behind a silver Peugeot Partner van, police said.

As they drove toward the access to Port Regis School, the van began to brake sharply before indicating and coming to a stop. The Citroen driver stopped behind and the driver of the van got out and approached his vehicle.

It was reported that he was shouting at the Citroen driver and when he opened the window, he assaulted the victim.

The victim did not sustain any injuries.

The driver of the Peugeot is described as white, six feet tall, with short or balding hair and a light-coloured beard.

PC Geraint Craig, of North Dorset police, said: “We are carrying out enquiries into this matter and I would urge any witnesses who have not already spoken to police to please contact us.

“I would also like to hear from anyone who may have captured anything of relevance on dashcam footage.”

Anyone with information should contact Dorset Police via www.dorset.police.uk/contact, or by calling 101, quoting incident number 55220188516.
