Man arrested after another suffers ‘serious injuries’ in A30 crash

A MAN in his 60s was airlifted to hospital – and another arrested – after a crash on the A30 last night.

The incident happened on the Sherborne Road at Purse Caundle at around 6.15pm on Thursday night (September 7) and involved a red Ford Transit minibus, a red Toyota Yaris and a red Volkswagen Polo.

Dorset Police said the man was taken to hospital by air ambulance with ‘serious injuries’.

“A man and a woman, both aged in their late teens, were also taken to hospital with suspected serious injuries,” a spokesperson added.

“A road closure was put in place to enable emergency services to safely deal with the incident.”

A 34-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of driving offences.

PC Adam Carr, of the Roads Policing Team, said: “We are carrying out a thorough investigation to establish the full circumstances of this incident.

“I am appealing for any witnesses to the collision, or the manner of driving of any of the vehicles prior to it, to please contact us.

“I would also ask anyone who was driving in the area and has dashcam fitted to their vehicle to please check their footage for anything that might assist our enquiries.

“Finally, I would like to thank members of the public for their patience and understanding while the road closures were in place.”
