Man, 43, charged after reports of armed person in Shaftesbury street

A MAN was arrested in Shaftesbury after reports of an armed person in the street.

The incident unfolded after police were called to reports of an armed man in Mampitts Road on Thursday (May 15).

Now, Dorset Police has confirmed a 43-year-old man, from Shaftesbury, has been arrested and charged with possession of a knife in a public place and remanded to court.

Officers thanked members of the public who reported the incident.
