Low Vision Day event in Dorchester offering advice and support

THE emotional and practical impact of sight loss will be among topics at a special day of events at Dorset County Hospital.

The Dorset Blind Association (DBA) will host Low Vision Day on November 18 in association with NHS Dorset County Hospital.

Low Vision Day will take place at The Dorford Centre, in Dorchester.

Organisers said the event will feature a packed schedule of expert speakers talking about various eye conditions, as well as the emotional and practical impact of sight loss.

DBA community support workers and NHS nurses from the Eye Department will be on-hand for advice and information on the day, with the event running from 10am to 2pm, as well as displays of low-vision aids.

Talks from guest speakers will cover subjects including macular conditions, cataracts, diabetic eye conditions, Glaucoma, coping with the transition from sighted to visual impairment and more.
