Long delays on M5 through Somerset after ‘multi-vehicle’ crash

DRIVERS on the M5 through Somerset are facing long delays after a crash this morning.

The incident, involving multiple vehicles, occurred on the southbound carriageway of the motorway between junctions 22 (Burnham on Sea) and 23 (Bridgwater), at around 9am.

At around 9.45am, National Highways confirmed the southbound carriageway was closed to all traffic as emergency services were at the scene.

Crews remain at the scene, with a diversion in place for drivers, who are facing delays of around an hour on the approach.

It is understood the crash involved two cars and a van, although no one has been injured.
