GILLINGHAM is gearing up for Christmas with a special event set to start the festivities.

November 25 will see the town lit up for Christmas during an event that will see the lights switched on, as well as a host of festive attractions on offer.

And from 5pm on the day, live music will be on offer at the Town Meadow, including Belle Street, Conor Smith and ROKiT Gillingham, Dorset.

“We can’t wait to welcome them,” said a spokesperson for the event, organised by Gillingham Town Council and Gillingham Chamber of Commerce.

“Don’t forget there will also be a festive parade down the High Street, switching on of the Christmas tree lights, food and drink, face painting and Father Christmas.

“We hope to see you there.”
