Lions Club donation will help create sweet sounds at Stalbridge primary

SWEET sounds will soon be coming from the grounds of Stalbridge Primary School thanks to a donation from the Blackmore Vale Lions Club (BVLC).

After a request from headteacher Simon Elledge, alongside parents, staff and pupils, the the Lions donated £1,500 to help set up an outdoor teaching area – including musical instruments.

A music area is being constructed in the woodland area in the grounds of the school, in a bid to create an outdoor space where classes can make music using a wide variety of instruments.

The plan is to open the area in 2024 and a group from BVLC went to the school to hand over the cheque to help with the project.

“The BVLC had a chance to meet Mr Elledge, members of staff and the four house captains, who told us about the school and the project and the hard work the project has taken from staff, parents, volunteers, pupils and contractors,” a BVLC spokesperson said.

“A story of vision, community spirit and hard work. BVLC wish them every success as they move the project forward particularly getting weatherproof protection in place.

“The four house captains were a real credit to the school and their parents and impressed us all with their ambition, aspiration, enthusiasm, knowledge and confidence.”
