Life-saving installation

Engineering and construction company Rose Engineering has installed a life-saving defibrillator outside their offices in Bagber Common, near Sturminster Newton as part of their commitment to the community.

Managing director Tom Rose said: “The health and welfare of our employees is always our main priority and with our rural office location we felt it was necessary to invest in this potentially lifesaving equipment that will also be available to the local community.”

“After carrying out additional first aid training for our staff we decided that having a defibrillator closer to our office was not only beneficial to our workforce but to neighbouring businesses and residents.”

The UK ambulance service attempts over 30,000 resuscitations each year with 72% of cardiac arrests occurring in the home and 15% in the workplace. The defibrillator is available 24/7 and is sited at the main offices in Bagber. It is fully-automatic so it can be used without training by anyone that needs it, with easy to follow instructions and voice commands.

Tom added: “We hope that this new equipment will never need to be used but we would like to let our local community know that it is there should they need it.”
