Landmark Wincanton garage in convenience store plan

A LANDMARK Wincanton garage is set to be converted into a convenience store if plans are approved.

A planning application has been submitted to Somerset Council to convert Bridge Motors Ltd, in Silver Street, into a shop, changing the use of the building.

The workshop would become a ‘food convenience store to serve the locality and residents of Wincanton’, the application said.

The current building would be converted, the plan says, including the installation of air conditioning and refrigeration components.

“The access to the convenience store will be via the main entrance doors, with level access via the front elevation,” it said.

“Also, facilities for goods delivery are provided by the separate entrance to the front elevation, at the far left-hand side.”

Parts of the existing boundary walls are set to be removed, the plan says, to enable improved access to vehicles for parking and deliveries.
